Financial Donations

Individuals, community and civic groups, churches, family foundations, and businesses may make financial donations to The Homeless Families Foundation at any time during the year.  The combination of these gifts from throughout the community makes up the largest portion of the financial resources of the organization.

$1,000 – Rent and utilities for one family for 90 days

OR

Eating at Home:  will enable a family to eat at home by providing a stove, refrigerator and/or microwave, and pots and pans when they move into permanent housing that does not have one or more of these items.

$500 – Case Management for 1 family for 45 days

OR
Sleeping in Peace: covers twin mattresses/frames, Pack and Plays (for the babies), and fans for one family as they move into their permanent housing.

$250 – 1 child at the Dowd Education Center for 1 month

OR

Confidence for School Children:  provide 4 homeless children with 2 full outfits of clothing and accessories to start school.

$200 – Transportation for 1 field trip at The Dowd Education Center

OR

Ending Hunger:  enough nutritional food to feed a homeless family of four for a month.

$150 – 5 monthly bus passes to help families with no transportation

OR

Things We Take for Granted: items such as soap, shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products and band aids for one of our families for which food stamps and other assistance programs are not allowed to be used.

$100 – Heat for 1 family for 1 month

OR

Healthy Beginnings: diapers, wipes, formula, baby food and other necessary items for the first 6 months of life of one of our family’s babies.

$50 – Electricity for 1 family for 1 month

OR

Tools for Learning -- enough basic school supplies for several homeless children to be successful for an entire year of school.

Donation of Supplies and Other Items

The following is a list of items that we consistently use and need.  Unless otherwise specified, gently used items are acceptable.  Donations can be dropped off at our Main Office during regular business hours:  Mon. – Thurs. 8:30-5, Fridays 8:30-3.

Apartment Items:

• Gift Cards:  Kroger/WalMart
• Alarm Clocks (electric)
• Twin size sheets/blankets
• Crib sheets/blankets
• New pillows
• Cups/plates/silverware/pots and pans
• New toys

Cleaning supplies:

• Liquid laundry detergent
• Dishwashing soap
• General cleaners
• New brooms and mops
• Paper towels

Personal items:

• Bar soap
• Lotion
• Shampoo
• Diapers – sizes, 4, 5 and 6
• Baby wipes
• Bath and kitchen towels
• New brushes/combs
• Toilet paper
• Toothpaste

Please note that we cannot accept:

• Expired food items
• Furniture
• Used clothing or toys
• Appliances
